Thoughts & Inspiration

When you have good news, who do you want to call first?  Obviously your family members, friends, etc are all included in that list.  That’s not what I’m talking about specifically.  I mean, when you want someone to get excited with you and react the way you’re hoping, who is your person to call?

I want to be that person. I want to be a celebrator.

I want to be the type of person that others want to tell their news to because they know I’ll celebrate with them.  This celebration has to be selfless.  My desire to be able to celebrate does not stem from wanting to know everything about everybody.  Definitely not.  When someone shares exciting news, that is a precious opportunity.

It is a gift to be able to celebrate another person.

This sounds simple, but there is something to be said about being able to fully embrace the success of others from their perspective.  Sometimes, people need to be reminded that their accomplishments and lives are worth celebrating.  In recent months, I’ve had a friend be accepted to squad lead, several have been hired, one got into law school, another decided to go on the World Race and the list goes on.

Celebrations abound.  We just need to take time to be people who notice.

My roommate, Sarah, and I decided that one of our words for the semester was going to be celebrate.  We have been keeping track of little celebrations such as lighting sparklers at 10 in the morning on a rainy day, sushi and a 90’s movie, and having a spontaneous dance session in the driveway at home.

So, I think being a celebrator is two-fold: it is being willing to celebrate other people, but also being able to celebrate the little things that happen in life. Your invitation is out there. You have permission to celebrate and be celebrated.

If you’ve got news to share, pass it my way.  I’ll be sure to celebrate with you.  Why?

Because I am choosing to BE A CELEBRATOR!

Also, I am sending out a newsletter TOMORROW (Friday)!  If you would like updates that will not be appearing in my blog, send me your email address ([email protected]) and I’ll be sure to add you to the list.  If you gave me your email last semester, I’ll need it again just in case because I’ve figured out some kinks in the system.  Time to try again and with greater regularity.  Thanks for your interest!
