So I have been debating about how to put everything into words that has gone on since we have been traveling from Uyuni, to La Paz, to Lima, and finally to Trujillo. We have gone through debrief as well as our first week of ministry. It seemed overwhelming to try and summarize all that I’ve been processing through. Fortunately, my team was selected to lead a service at El Yo Soy, the church that our ministry contact, Joel, refers to as his stomping grounds. I volunteered to preach that night because there was a message on my heart. Here is what I came up with…actually, no, here is what the Lord had for me to say.
9.2.14
I wrote that first paragraph not long after I preached on August 6th and it has taken me this long to finally get it uploaded. I must admit that it was quite frustrating to not be able to successfully get the file online, but I now understand why. At first, much as I may not want to admit it, my primary motivation for getting the video up was to show people the ministry I have been doing and what God’s been teaching me. While that may sound like an acceptable motive, it was more about self-glorification than it was about passing on God’s work. Since it has been a month, there have been lots of changes in my heart and I can honestly say that the reason I want this posted is because I want God to use it. After all, this message was His, not mine. He placed it on my heart and chose me to be the one to deliver it despite the fact that it would be my first time preaching. The credit goes to Him alone because while I may be talking about what He has been teaching me, it is a story that glorifies Him and His unconditional love. I hope that you enjoy it, even if my public speaking could use some refinement. Also, while the majority who will be listening will only really be interested in the English, some of the message got a little confused in translation (chains became opportunities which made the translation a bit confusing). Additionally, the church I preached at is pastored by our ministry contact, Joel, who is great and by one of the most enthusiastic, joyful, and humble men I have encountered. Pastor Solomon is awesome and it was a privilege to speak at El Yo Soy. Thanks for your grace and I hope the Lord uses this message to work in your heart.
