This is going to be a really quick post, but I wanted to put this on my blog in the hopes that my target audience actually reads it.
One of the blessings of the World Race is that you can accumulate miles for free flights if you are proactive and set up accounts through the major airlines. This process had been going beautifully until a glitch happened when I tried to redeem my miles from Cambodia to South Africa. Once the points went through, I would have earned a free flight so you can imagine that I was anxious to make sure everything was in order. It’s been nearly a month and a half and I finally decided to bite the bullet and call the toll free number to solve the issue. Upon my first attempt, I spoke with Amanda, who was incredibly helpful but the Skype call dropped so I had to try again. After nearly 20 minutes of frustration trying to work through the system (a longer process than the first attempt) and nearly giving up, I finally heard a voice on the other end of the line belonging to Henley (if you read this I’m really sorry if I spelled your name wrong!).
Not only was she incredibly helpful, but she also asked what I was doing (obviously she was able to see all of the crazy flight travel on my account). I explained that I am doing something called the World Race. Her follow-up comment was to ask if she should know me on television or whether she should be embarrassed for not recognizing me as a famous person. HA! Good joke. At any rate, she was absolutely awesome and after helping a teammate of mine with her account, followed by another conversation with me about my account, she asked more about our trip. She went so far as to ask about fundraising and whether I had a blog. I gladly gave it to her.
OK, now you have the back-story. I know it may seem insignificant but it made my day.
Henley, if you are reading this, I want you to know that you were so friendly and helpful. More than that I want you to know that your Father in heaven absolutely adores you and loves you for who you are. He’s got your back. I don’t think it was a coincidence that my original call got dropped, and I ended up connecting with you. I know nothing more about you other than the fact that your name is Henley, you’re nice, and you work for American Airlines Customer Service. Honestly, I do not need to know anymore beyond that. You are a daughter of the One True King and Jesus Christ died on the cross because of how much He loves you. When everything else becomes uncertain, trust in that. Know you are loved. Thank you for your interest in my trip and for being a joy to talk to on the phone after a frustrating crawl through the system. I really hope you read this and that it blesses you.
